Services & Fees
At this time I provide individual psychotherapy for adults (18 and older). I do not conduct psychological testing or evaluations, including disability or VA claims related issues. I also do not have the expertise needed in legal matters related to mental health, including child custody. I am available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for appointments.
My fee for a 50-minute individual session is $175 and I use a fee-for-service private practice model, meaning I work outside managed care and health insurance, i.e. I am not on any insurance panels and thus do not accept insurance for payment.
As I am not on any insurance panels, recognize the financial realities of mental health care costs, and as a personal and professional value, I maintain a modest portion of my practice for sliding scale fees based on your circumstances, including income and ability to pay. My full fee is $175 and sliding scale rates are negotiable. Please ask about my availability for a sliding scale fee. Also note that a reduced fee may be periodically reassessed and renegotiated in a longer-term psychotherapy.
I am not on any insurance panels, a personal choice based on my experience with managed care and insurance companies, as well as running a small private practice on my own. Some insurance plans provide some level of reimbursement for services rendered by a clinician not on their panel as an out-of-network provider. Call your insurance company to find out your mental health reimbursement rates. I am more than happy to assist with providing documentation and support for such arrangements. I have had several patients successfully receive out-of-network provider reimbursement with their paid receipts, but please note any such arrangement is between you and your insurance company after payment is made for services. I have also had patients use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA) for reimbursement. I am listed as a “Medical Practitioner” with Square to accept HAS and FSA credit cards.
I see patients in a full spectrum of scheduling formats including: twice a week, weekly, every other week, monthly, and as needed. Weekly patients receive priority in scheduling. Longer or shorter sessions are sometimes appropriate and are pro-rated accordingly. I also provide telephone and internet video-based sessions for some patients due to geographical or personal circumstances.
I am happy to offer a free, brief telephone consultation (15 - 20 minutes) regarding your interest in services.
Fees for my time writing letters and/or completing paperwork and forms are prorated based on your session fee.
Payment for services is due prior to leaving the office after each session, in the form of cash or check. I also accept debit and credit cards (including HAS and FSA credit cards) with Square. Arrangements are available for regularly scheduled patients to pay on a monthly basis. I ask that sessions be cancelled 24 hours in advance, but I am aware that things happen and thus have a spirit of flexibility with this policy. I offer email or text reminders for scheduled appointments and scheduling communications.
